“What Was God Really Doing On Christmas?”

This is a two-part talk on the Incarnation.  It was originally given as a one-day Nativity fast retreat; but with a reworking of the title, it can be presented any time of year.  The first talk drives home the truth that the Incarnation is the centerpiece of God’s work in the world—not just a necessary condition for the satisfaction of God’s justice at the Cross.  Experiencing the Incarnation through Holy Tradition is the theme of the second talk.

“The Significance of Holy Tradition Today”

This series looks at Holy Tradition as the expression of the life of the Holy Trinity in the world.  Beginning with an examination of God’s Old Testament relationship with Israel, and looking at the experience of the Early Church, we come to see Holy Tradition as the means by which God fulfills His purpose in our lives: to make us one with each other, and one with the Trinity, in the same way that the Father, Son, and Spirit are one.  Tradition, then, becomes synonymous with love. The final presentation looks at the challenges facing Orthodox Christians today, when it comes to living our Tradition.
